A life member of the Eastern Goldfields Historical Society, Norma King spent her life writing and recording history of the region. She was awarded an Order of Australia for her contribution to society and is part of Kalgoorlie’s “Walk of Fame”. She spent her life recording and writing about the history of the Eastern Goldfields.
This book was the first factual book to focus of goldfields’ women of the 1884-1914 era. There are stories of first arrivals, pioneer nurses, lady doctors, early feminists, barmaids, entertainers and prostitutes. The book is carefully researched and referenced. It was intended to inform and entertain.
